Can the Jets Win a Game?

My yo-yo picking in the NFL continues as I bounced back from a terrible week two weeks ago to a strong performance this week nailing 10 out of 15 games. Let’s see if I can keep the ball rolling but first things first, a quick reaction to week six results.

Week 6 Knee Jerks

New York Giants 34 Philadelphia 17: An upset for sure but not as surprising as one would think. Jaxson Dart has the Giants moving in the right direction. Questions are beginning to rise in regard to the Eagles’ state of being. Harv’s prediction: Giants 24 Eagles 21.

Denver 13 New York Jets 11: A complete embarrassment for sure turned in by the Jets. Quarterback Justin Fields was in the negative by the game’s end for passing. New York is now 0-6 and heading further south quickly. Denver is one of the AFC's best teams but beating the Jets proves nothing. Harv’s prediction: Broncos 35 Jets 9.

Los Angeles Rams 17 Baltimore 3: This is getting nuttier every week. Another Ravens loss? 1-5? No one could have predicted this. Baltimore is handing over the division title to Pittsburgh. Matthew Stafford is proving why he is a future hall of famer. Harv’s prediction: Rams 38 Ravens 13.

Carolina 30 Dallas 27: Jerry Jones says his team is “still in it.” What are you smoking Jerry? The Panthers are beginning to find themselves again. Harv’s prediction: Panthers 23 Cowboys 21.

Indianapolis 31 Arizona 27: Do you think Daniel Jones misses his time as a New York Giant? Hardly. He and the Colts are rolling. Harv’s prediction: Colts 34 Cardinals 14.

Seattle 20 Jacksonville 12: One week you are up the next you down. That’s life in the NFL sometimes and life for the Jaguars. The Jags beat the Chiefs then lose to the ‘Hawks. Go figure. Acquiring Sam Darnold in the offseason has proved worthy to Seattle. Harv’s prediction: Jaguars 27 Seahawks 17.

Los Angeles Chargers 29 Miami 27: Like the Jets, the Dolphins are in trouble. Harv’s prediction: Dolphins 30 Chargers 27.

Pittsburgh 23 Cleveland 9: ESPN’s Power Rankings had the Steelers up one to 12th. They are slowly climbing their way into the top 10 then watch out top five. This team is starting to jell. Harv’s prediction: Steelers 24 Browns 17.

New England 25 New Orleans 19: All of the sudden the Patriots are relevant in the AFC East and have the Bills looking over their shoulders. The Saints are in for a long year. Harv’s prediction: Patriots 35 Saints 18.

Las Vegas 20 Tennessee 10: One week after winning a game they should not have, the Titans fired their head coach and got back to doing what they do best in 2025. Lose. The Raiders are still trying to locate their identity. Harv’s prediction: Raiders 40 Titans 20.

Tampa Bay 30 San Francisco 19: Some are calling the Bucs the best team in the league right now. I’m not buying that. The 49ers can’t be consistent. Harv’s prediction: Buccaneers 31 49ers 27.

Green Bay 27 Cincinnati 18: The Packers were the Super Bowl favorites after the Micah Parsons trade. Now they don’t look the part. Things that make you go hmmm. It’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that without Joe Burrow the Bengals stink. One man makes that much of a difference? Harv’s prediction: Packers 48 Bengals 9.

Kansas City 30 Detroit 17: The Chiefs are not dead yet. They beat a solid Lions team and have placed themselves back in the AFC title conversation. Harv’s prediction: Lions 31 Chiefs 20.

Atlanta 24 Buffalo 14: The Bills lose again and open the door for other AFC teams to challenge for the conference title. The Falcons believe they are one of the best teams in the league. They are inching towards proving they belong. Harv’s prediction: Bills 25 Falcons 17.

Chicago 25 Washington 24: A great story here. A walk on kicker replaces the injured starter and wins the game for the Bears on a last second field goal. The Commanders are stinging after this loss. Harv’s prediction: Commanders 34 Bears 17.

Two teams had the week off, the Houston Texans and Minnesota Vikings. Now for the week seven winners (or at least I hope!).

Week 7 Picks

Pittsburgh Steelers at Cincinnati Bengals

PIT 30

CIN 17

The Steelers can put a very tight stranglehold on the AFC North with a win here sending the Bengals to a record of 2-5 with the Baltimore Ravens with yet another loss in the basement with Cleveland at 1-5. A win puts Pittsburgh at 5-1 but ahead are the Packers, Colts, and Chargers. OUCH. Here in this game?

Los Angeles Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars

LAR 21

JAX 23

The Jags thought they had it figured out after the Chief win but then they went out and lost to Seattle at home. The Rams are tough but my gut is saying Jags.

New Orleans Saints vs Chicago Bears

NO 13

CHI 25

The Bears win their second in a row.

Miami Dolphins at Cleveland Browns

MIA 10

CLE 17

Dillon Gabriel is looking over his shoulder at Shadeur Sanders. The question is how long is Gabriel’s chain before it gets yanked for Shadeur?

Las Vegas Raiders at Kansas City Chiefs

LV 24

KC 34

The Chiefs are turning it around and back to .500 in the won/loss column and if the Raiders are going to stay relevant, they would need to win this one on the road. No chance.

Philadelphia Eagles at Minnesota Vikings

PHI 17

MIN 23

It doesn’t appear J.J. McCarthy is ready to return from injury just yet, so the Carson Wentz saga continues. The Eagles are on a two game losing streak so can they break out of the snide on the road?

Carolina Panthers at New York Jets

CAR 17

NYJ 20

The Panthers have won two straight, and can Justin Fields bounce back from what was a horrific game a week before? You figure the Jets are bound to win a game at some point and the boo birds will be out in force in New Jersey for this one. I don’t believe the Jets are as bad as their 0-6. But this has to be Fields’ last stand. My gut is saying Carolina, but I’ll believe in the Jets for just this one.

New England Patriots at Tennessee Titans

NE 21

TEN 23

The Patriots are in first place with three straight wins. I’m going to call this game my upset special.

New York Giants at Denver Broncos

NYG 27

DEN 37

Jaxson Dart vs. Bo Nix. It should be a fun game to watch.

Indianapolis Colts at Los Angeles Chargers

IND 31

LAC 38

Shootout at the L.A. corral I’ll call this one. Two very good quarterbacks with solid offenses vs. defenses that have question marks. I’ll go with a high scoring back and forth game here.

Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals

GB 24

ARI 27

Both teams have questions marks, but the Cardinals have a rash of injuries including quarterback Kyler Murray who is working through an injured foot. Green Bay also has a long list of outs and players listed as questionable. Because of that, this game could go either way. If Murray can’t go it’s Jacoby Brissett who can certainly hold his own. In the week six loss to the Colts, Brissett threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns. I’ll take the homers in this one.

Washington Commanders at Dallas Cowboys

WAS 27

DAL 32

With the world champion Eagles losing two straight, the NFC East is now anyone’s to take. The Commanders are one game behind at 3-3 and the Cowboys can match that record with a victory here. If the game was in Washington, I’d probably lean towards the Commanders. But since the game is in Dallas, I’m going to pick the Cowboys to win.

Atlanta Falcons at San Francisco

ATL 24

SF 31

The NFC West has something no other division has right now. Three of the four teams are tied for first place at 4-2. The Niners are one of those. The Falcons are one loss behind front running Tampa in the NFC South. I’m not a believer in the Dirty Birds yet.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions

TB 23

DET 38

Are the Bucs the best team in the NFL right now? This is where we find out. The Lions were shut down by the Chiefs a week ago and now they return home licking their wounds with their egos taking a hit. They’ll hit back on the Bucs and show them who is the boss in the NFC.

Houston Texans at Seattle Seahawks

HOU 17

SEA 35

After an 0-3 start, the Texans have won two straight. No one ever likes playing in front of the 12th man in Seattle unless you are bringing a really good team to compete. Not the case here.

This week’s teams that stay home are the hapless Ravens and the Buffalo Bills.
