Week 1 Abstract Sports Fantasy Football League Recaps: Football was Played and Fantasy Team Owners Rejoice

The first week of the season is behind us and everyone is hitting the waiver wire in desperation. We had a few close matchups across both leagues (two matchups decided by less than 3 points), and no real crazy blowouts, except maybe Jackson’s Finest Team (163.6) over The Kittle Engine (125.52) in FFL2.
Wk. 1 Overall High Score
163.6 (Jackson’s Finest Team FFL2)
Wk. 1 Overall Lowest Score
95.08 (Lumberjacks in FFL2)
FFL1 Recap
The Tuddy Buddies (129.68) pulled off a comeback victory by just 3.16 points in the last minutes remaining of play between himself and I Strained McCaffrey (126.52).
Henryless Levis (136.12) gets a confident W over I Likes TDs (104.04) in the Michael vs Michael showdown. I hope there’s some smack talk happening as they head to the mountains for a few days of bow hunting.
Even with the help of Bijan Robinson’s 27.4 points, Lambeau Forever (95.52) couldn’t pull it together over Dora the Touchdown Scora (120.82) who simply had a more all-around team effort.
Ja’Marrvelous Dicker’s (109.66) primary namesake didn’t pop up in the stats columns enough to deflate the Perpetual Priapisms (133.12) in Week 1. Even the victor’s bench (67.7) looks like it would be stiff competition to some.
Team FSABS Hart (119.08) had several players in big double digits, making Fumblerooski (99.22) live up to his name just a bit. If Fumblerooski had put a couple different players in, he still would have barely won, so it was a long shot. And hindsight is always 20/20.
And last but not least, Backfield Penetration (138.86) earns the high score of the week in FFL1 with more than a third of his points coming from just two of his players (Lamar Jackson & Garret Wilson). GIT UR DUN (128.96) had a solid showing, with several players in double-digits… Tua Tagovailoa is the only one who didn’t produce enough to, well… git ‘er done. I want to add that Steven, manager of Backfield Penetration (oof that sounds so bad lol), purchased an Abstract Sports shirt to support our league system. So, big shout out to Steven.
Featured Matchups of Week 2
Ja’Marrvelous Dicker vs GIT UR DUN
These two former coworkers, current good friends, and hockey season ticket holder buddies face off in the only losers matchup of Week 2. The victor will have their first win, and the loser will still have zero.
Perpetual Priapisms vs Team FSABS Hart
On the other side of the win column, these two winners try to deal each other their first loss of the season.
FFL2 Recap
The Tater Tuds (100.18) fizzled out on the comeback attempt over the reigning champion Tua’s Trophy Fish (107.22). The rookie Emeka Egbuka shined in his career debut and for Tua’s Trophy Fish in his attempt to repeat in year two of FFL2.
Josh Allen and Bijan Robinson combined for over half of Tet’s TDs (136.26) points in his strong win over Jonathan’s Scary Team (108.18). Enough said.
In a relatively low-scoring affair, My Nabers (111.72) squeaked away with a win. It definitely helped that the Lumberjacks (95.08) were the lowest scoring team across both leagues.
In one of the most competitive AND high-scoring matchups in Week 1, No Place Like Mahomes (149.32) gets the W over the Smokin Fins (141.86), even though he had Xavier Worthy drop a goose egg in his lineup. Seeing how the Dolphins performed, Achane is the only player that would have made any kind of impact on a team.
First of all, Jeanty and Juice (101.54) is probably one of the best team names I’ve seen this season. Well done, sir! And he got the win by 0.92 points over Greg Heffley (100.62). OUCH! It had to be the name that gave him that extra boost, right? Or maybe it was 7 of his players hitting double-digits? Who knows.
And the high score of the week goes to… Jackson’s Finest Team (163.6)! I just realized we had the two new guys going head-to-head in this matchup, which is an odd way of initiating/welcoming them to the league I suppose. The Kittle Engine (125.52) put up a good fight though, with only a few players underperforming, which is par for the course for most of us.
Featured Matchups of Week 2
Tet’s TDs vs My Nabers
These two undefeated powerhouses (who am I kidding it’s Week 2) teams try to deal the first lost to one another. May the most fantastic team win!
Lumberjacks vs Greg Heffley
In this brotherly showdown, one will get their first win and the other will be defeated at 0-2. I love a good sibling rivalry. Best of luck, boys!
