Annual Early Predictions for the 2026-2027 NFL Season

Here on Abstract Sports every year I submit my NFL predictions for the upcoming season by going through the league schedule week by week and picking winners of every game. I tally up the results and give you what might be the final standings at the close of the season.

Are these accurate? By no means NO. In the past I’ve never really ended up with what the actual wins and losses were for every team although I’ve gotten lucky sometimes and nailed a few. This is all for fun, laughs and giggles. It is not to be taken seriously because as training camps are now convening, there is no way to predict any injuries, trades, and poor play by individuals on every NFL team.

The Los Angeles Raiders are putting the chances of their success on what was the league’s first overall pick, Fernando Mendoza. The young quarterback is coming off a NCAA championship season as he led his Indiana Hoosiers to the national title. How good will he be? That remains to be seen. There is a whole new crop of rookies and veterans who changed teams. My team, the Pittsburgh Steelers now have Michael Pittman Jr. as well as a new head coach in Mike McCarthy who brought in an entire new staff so Steelers Nation is excited to see how the season pans out with Aaron Rodgers returning for his final campaign.

Beside Mike McCarthy nine other teams have hired a new coach for the 2026 season. John Harbaugh fired by the Baltimore Ravens is now in New York coaching up the Giants. Jesse Minter replaces Harbaugh in Baltimore. Kevin Stefanski goes from the lowly Browns to trying to revive the Atlanta Falcons. Robert Salen is the new head honcho in Tennessee. Klint Kubiak will be in charge on the sidelines trying to get the best out of Fernando Mendoza in Los Angeles. Mike Lafleur has been hired to coach the Arizona Cardinals minus Kyle Murray who now finds himself in Minnesota ready to supplant J.J. McCarthy.

Joe Brady takes over in Buffalo and Jeff Hafley is in Miami as the new head coach. Finally there is the highly sought after Todd Monken wooed by several teams but he landed in Cleveland to try to restore some respectability to a franchise that has been pitiful for years.

Again, take these predictions with a grain of salt. In fact, treat it like a joke. If I get lucky maybe some of these final records will ring true! Here we go…
