A Wild Ride in Week 2, Week 3 Predictions of the 2026-2027 NFL Season

The NFL has been unpredictable for years. As the quote goes, “any given Sunday.” That could not be more true than last weekend’s games. Teams that should have easily won, somehow lost. Teams that had a decent showing the first week took huge steps backwards in their second game. One team that looked terribly awful in their season opener pulled a shocker on another team.

Here is a look back at what went down.

Bills 41 Lions 31. It seems every year for the longest time, the Buffalo Bills are the favorites to either reach the Super Bowl or get to the AFC championship game. They look great in the regular season then when it comes to the playoffs, they falter. Here they are again looking like a championship team and Josh Allen playing the stud he has always been…that is until the postseason and could this finally be the year the Bills get to the mountain top with a new head coach Joe Brady? Something about the Bills just makes you feel not so confident about them.

Panthers 34 Falcons 3. Atlanta kept their opener close with Pittsburgh then the bottom fell out facing the Panthers. Atlanta might have the worst quarterback problem in the league. It appears their season is going to be VERY long.

Bengals 20 Texans 6. My Steelers will see these Bengals next. This makes me nervous. Joe Burrow is an elite quarterback, Cincinnati’s defense has improved, and they are now 2-0. The Texans with their nasty defense have not been as nasty this season thus far. If Burrow stays healthy and the Cincy defense stays strong, they will be a serious threat in the AFC.

Eagles 24 Titans 20. Philadelphia gets a scare, but a win is a win, right?

Packers 20 Jets 17. See the Eagles/Titans game. Same thing here.

Vikings 9 Bears 3. Earlier in the week the Bears head coach proclaimed he wants to have the highest scoring team in NFL history. This certainly is not the way to do that. The injury to Kyler Murray may be a blessing in disguise for the Vikes. Chicago should bounce back. It’s not like they got blown out.

Saints 24 Ravens 17. The ABSOLUTE shocker of the day. This one left many scratching their collective heads saying, “what just happened?” On paper this should have been a complete blowout. Instead, the Ravens showed they are very beatable while the Saints just played hard and never gave up. Embarrassing.
Browns 23 Bucs 19. So, the Browns and Deshaun Watson were a joke in the season opener. Now they get the last laugh and Tampa and Baker Mayfield are left red-faced. Was it a bad day at the office for the Bucs or is Cleveland really not the sad sack team some thought they were?

Raiders 26 Chargers 14. Could the Los Angeles Chargers success ride be on the downslide? 0-2 to start the season does not bode well. The Raiders in first place? Believe it. 2-0 tied with the mighty Chiefs.

Broncos 20 Jaguars 13. Bo Nix was feeling some heat in the season opener, and he made up for it a bit in the follow-up. The Jags had their chances, but these are two good teams that will contend all season.

Seahawks 31 Cardinals 7. The world champs brought Arizona back down to earth and showed them who the big boys are in the NFC.

49ers 35 Dolphins 13. The Miami Dolphins hope for success in 2026 continues to dwindle. Malik Willis was a little better holding the role of Miami’s new golden boy, but it wasn’t enough to keep up with the high-flying 49ers. Brock Purdy continues to be the greatest “Mr. Irrelevant” in NFL history.

Cowboys 37 Commanders 20. Down goes Jayden Daniels…again. Obviously, injury prone, the Commanders are probably in for a long season that won’t include a playoff spot. Does this victory by Dallas now overshadow a disappointing season opening loss to the Giants?

Chiefs 33 Colts 30. Are the Chiefs back to being the AFC favorites? They are without a doubt perhaps the most dangerous team in the NFL. Why? Two words…Patrick Mahomes. If you get into a shootout with Kansas City your team will probably lose. Why? Patrick Mahomes. A healthy Mahomes means a dangerous Chiefs team that can defeat any team on any day.

Rams 28 Giants 6. New Giants head coach John Harbaugh had a smashing debut in his first game as New York’s head coach and then this beat down. To make matters worse, Giants’ starting quarterback Jaxon Dart suffered a knee injury and initial reports are indicating it could be a season ending injury that will for the most part throttle Harbaugh’s first year at the helm. The Rams well…played the way the Rams should.
