2026-2027 NFL Season: Week 6 Review, Week 7 Picks - One Third of the Season Down

Week 6 Results

8-6

Overall Results

56-37

As many may know the quote, “On any given Sunday.” That could not be truer than looking at some of the results of games in week six in the NFL. There were some mild upsets which define that quote because in the NFL any team can defeat another regardless of the odds and circumstances. There were a handful of injuries that were impactful and the unbeaten teams remained just that.

We saw a team gain their first victory of the season while another AFC team continues to search for that elusive first victory. The rundown begins with last Thursday’s NFC versus AFC showdown. These games seemed easy to pick but I finished even at 7-7.

Broncos 17 Seahawks 14. Seattle must have been scratching their heads after this one. To lose a game in which their offense had doubled the number of offensive yards their opponent did? The Seahawks had 24 first downs to Denver’s 13. The Broncos converted only three of 14 third down conversions while Seattle was successful on seven of 17. The difference? Three Seattle turnovers. The loss drops the world champs to 3-3, and Denver moves to 4-2 trying to keep pace with the unbeaten Chiefs.

Texans 34 Jaguars 31. A mild shocker here. The Jaguars had been rolling. Keep a close eye on Houston now with two wins in a row and it is still early in the season.

Bears 31 Falcons 23. What a return for Caleb Williams. 30 of 36, 305 yards and a touchdown pass and zero interceptions. Michael Penix Jr. played rather well but the obviously most talented team wins the battle of attrition.

Titans 26 Colts 20. Hooray for Tennessee. Victory number one. They are off the snide leaving just the Chargers and Dolphins without a win. Now the Titans are just one game behind second place in the AFC South. Daniel Jones threw the ball 42 times and two of those passes were interceptions.

Browns 13 Ravens 10. Does this make Cleveland for real? It seems the Ravens are just not the same team without Lamar Jackson. Deshaun Watson again did just enough to propel the Browns into a four-way tie for first place in the AFC North.

Saints 34 Giants 27. Apparently, no team wants to win the NFC East. The Giants drop to 3-2-1, the Eagles have lost four in a row and have now lost their quarterback Jalen Hurts to blood clots in his lungs, the Cowboys have lost back-to-back games, and with a loss on Monday night, the Commanders are in the basement at 1-4-1. It was also the first time in the history of the NFL that every team in a division had lost two straight games.

Patriots 26 Jets 19. The Jets gave it their all but just came up short. They are certainly not the bad team from a year ago. Drake Maye seems to have rightened his ship. Geno Smith has been the difference for New York in 2026.

Panthers 25 Eagles 14. Philadelphia is absolutely in a tailspin. Now with Jalen Hurts not playing the remainder of the season, that puts backup Tanner McKee under center with Cole Payton and Joe Milton his backups. Eagles fan should start looking ahead to 2027. Carolina on the other hand takes over first place in their division.

Cardinals 18 Rams 16. This is the laughable game of the day. Not for Rams fans but for anyone that does not like Los Angeles. That is because there was all this talk about the possibility of L.A. going undefeated this season and after this one, they are now 2-4 and in last place. Injuries have played a role but still…Arizona moves ahead of the Rams in the division. Go figure.

Chiefs 22 Chargers 6. News flash…Justin Herbert is still the starting quarterback for the Chargers. How? The Chiefs spank the Chargers and Herbert is 22 of 37 for just 204 yards throwing one pick and getting sacked four times. His rating was a low 63.3. Once believed to be approaching elite status, on the other side Patrick Mahomes, considered by many to be the current best QB in the NFL, was efficient with 23 completions missing on just seven attempts. His passing yards were 272 and while he did throw one interception his rating was higher than his opponent’s at 89.0.

Bills 33 Raiders 30. Buffalo is atop the AFC East and while they are 5-1, their games have been close. This one by three, the previous game by three, and the one before that by the same margin in a loss. They beat the Chargers by only eight and the Texans to open the season by just five. Their largest margin of victory was over Detroit by 10. For Las Vegas a 3-0 start has suddenly become a 3-3 record.

Packers 23 Cowboys 13. While Dallas is certainly not the worst team in the league, they are competing with division rivals, the Eagles, for a team in disarray. The Cowboys with two straight losses are now at 2-4 but still just one game out of first place. They are certainly not playing like a playoff team. The Packers with three wins a row are slowly catching the Vikings who remain unbeaten.

49ers 23 Commanders 17. They say Washington head coach Dan Quinn is on the hot seat. At 1-4 and that tie game fiasco with New York, he may very well be. Facing what might be the league’s best team right now they made it close late but never had a chance.

Now it’s another slate of games for week seven and my Pittsburgh Steelers are playing overseas in Paris. The country is in civil unrest, but the game is still scheduled for Sunday morning at 9:30. The Steelers review of week six and pick for week seven are in an adjacent article on Abstract Sports.

New England Patriots at Chicago Bears

NE 21

CHI 27

This week’s Thursday night game pits two 4-2 teams both chasing division leaders. Caleb Williams had a rough start to his career, but he has now proven he is an NFL quality quarterback. Chicago’s defense is better than New England’s and that should be the difference in this one.

Indianapolis Colts at Minnesota Vikings

IND 17

MIN 34

The Vikings are rolling and the Colts are slumping. Playing at home, the rollers keep rolling.

New York Giants at Houston Texans

NYG 20

HOU 30

AFC South teams beware. Here come the Texans. Two straight wins and they make it a three-bee here.

Miami Dolphins at New York Jets

MIA 13

NYJ 31

Poor Dolphins fans. They just want a victory. They absolutely won’t get one here.

Cleveland Browns at Tennessee Titans

CLE 21

TEN 23

The Titans upended the surprised Colts last week now can they turn the tables on the Browns who have been a surprise. Cleveland should win but my gut is saying the Titans pull their second straight upset.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers

TB 16

CAR 35

Tampa desperately needs the return of Baker Mayfield who is questionable. His backup undrafted Jaylen Daniels played well in the first half last week facing Pittsburgh then the rookie jitters set in. Carolina will apply the same pressure the Steelers put in the final two quarters of the week six game. The result will be a Carolina victory.

Cincinnati Bengals at Baltimore Ravens

CIN 24

BAL 21

Wow. Pick ‘em here. Lamar Jackson is listed as questionable and without him I can’t see Baltimore prevailing even at home. I’ll make this pick on the assumption Jackson is not playing. Even if he does start, how effective will he be coming off an injury?

San Francisco 49ers at Atlanta Falcons

SF 37

ATL 9

Atlanta has shown signs of being a contender but against the best team in football it does not matter.

Denver Broncos at Arizona Cardinals

DEN 24

ARI 27

What an upset by Arizona a week prior. Does that mean the Cards are that good of a team or are the Rams overhyped and not as good as everyone thought they would be. I like a second straight upset here.

Los Angeles Rams at Las Vegas Raiders

LAR 21

LV 23

Could the Rams actually lose again? Absolutely. If Kirk Cousins were not the QB I might think otherwise.

Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions

GB 17

DET 20

Detroit badly needs this win. They are currently in last place, and the Packers have won three in a row. I know the Lions are better than what we’ve seen.

Kansas Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks

KC 27

SEA 29

Super Bowl preview? Perhaps. Kansas City is not going undefeated. We haven’t seen an undefeated season since the Patriots pulled it off years ago and they failed to match the 1972 Miami Dolphins championship season when the ‘Fins won every game. So, I think this is where the Chiefs get caught and see their zero go.

Dallas Cowboys at Philadelphia Eagles

DAL 16

PHI 13

Philadelphia and their locker room is a mess right now. Jalen Hurts out for the season, their head coach on the hot seat, and the Eagles have lost four in a row. One of these teams is going to see their losing streak stopped. Dallas has lost two straight. Both teams are 2-4. I just believe that mentally the Eagles are done. That will reflect in their performance.

Pittsburgh Steelers at New Orleans Saints

PIT 34

NO 17

I think the Steelers had a hiccup in Tampa in week six then fixed the issues and had a monstrous fourth quarter so I believe that momentum carries over into this one. While the Saints have played rather well and given some teams a scare, they simply are not the better team here.
