2026-2027 NFL Season: Week 5 Review, Week 6 Picks - And Then There Were Three
Week 5 Results
10-5
Overall Results
48-31
As we enter week six of the 2026 NFL season, there are still three teams searching for that elusive first victory. The Miami Dolphins, Tennessee Titans, and surprisingly the Los Angeles Chargers are all 0-5. Which of these three teams is the worst? I would say the Titans then Miami and the Chargers are in unchartered territory. Typically, they are fast starters and fade later but for Jim Harbaugh he must be frustrated to no end.
For those three teams and especially their fans, they are in a very uncomfortable position of knowing their season is already all but over. I’m sure there has never been an 0-5 team that made the playoffs. Miami is already four games behind first place Buffalo. The same goes for the Titans trailing division leaders Jacksonville. For the Chargers looking up at 4-0 Kansas City, there is no catching them.
As for the results of week five, there were not too many surprises and for myself, I nailed 10 out of 15 games and with the Denver/Chargers game I correctly picked the final score of 23-17. I also nailed the Eagles final tally of 17 and the Falcons 23 points albeit I had them beating Baltimore. The rest of the games presented no eye-popping results. Here is my rundown:
Jaguars 19 Eagles 17. If you want a great example of how to blow a game, rewatch this one. With a lead of 17-16, Philadelphia kicked off to the Jaguars and the return of the kick brought the Jags offense right into field goal range with little time left on the clock. In comes Jacksonville’s kicker and on an attempt that was well over 50 yards…game over. Ouch for Philly.
Jets 17 Browns 12. What did I say last week, “don’t count your chickens before they hatch?” Well Cleveland was all high and mighty beating the Steelers again on a Thursday night but low and behold, they laid an egg in New York. I called this one and Deshaun Watson was no hero in this game. The Browns spent just over a week in first place.
Bengals 31 Dolphins 24. When do the Dolphins win their first game? They visit the Jets next week. LOSS. Then host the Patriots. LOSS. Can they defeat the Lions the next week? NOT. A road game in Indianapolis? LOSS. To the Bills next…BIG LOSS. A rematch with the Jets at home…yay! Maybe they win there. Regardless, the Dolphins didn’t expect them to be this bad. Cincinnati? They took advantage of a lousy team.
Vikings 23 Saints 13. Kyler Murray has found his sweet spot. No doubt. The Saints will battle teams, but they are nowhere close to the next level.
Giants 27 Commanders 27. Washington’s head coach and Jayden Daniels are getting shredded for blowing this game in overtime. They could have walked away with a game winning field goal, but their clock management was horrible.
Patriots 45 Raiders 17. Is this a sign to bring in top rookie Fernando Mendoza? It depends on how Kirk Cousins and the Raiders recover from this embarrassing loss. Drake Maye had a career day and perhaps his worst days are behind him.
Texans 26 Titans 3. Someone’s zero had to go. It was Houston’s. As said above with Miami, do the Titans win a game this season? This week they are in Indianapolis. Chalk that up as an “L.” They then host the Browns. Possible win. The rest of the way it is Cincinnati on the road, hosting the Jaguars, a visit to Dallas, a rematch in Jacksonville, hosting the Commanders, to Detroit, rematch with the Colts, in Las Vegas, hosting the Steelers, and finishing in Houston. Not many wins in there.
Packers 31 Bears 7. No Caleb Williams and facing a Packers team that was desperate. End result? Blowout.
Broncos 23 Chargers 17. Gosh…five weeks in a row talking about the Chargers and they not winning. It’s only a matter of time before Justin Herbert is benched. He needs a win to save his job. This week they are in Kansas City. Oh boy.
Lions 45 Cardinals 21. I said it before I’ll say it again. Allowing Kyler Murray to leave the team was a HUGE mistake. Long season ahead for Arizona. For Detroit, this doesn’t mean they are back on top.
49ers 32 Seahawks 29. The game of the week and it came down to the wire. Classic football here. The world champs faced a game where last team with the ball wins. These are the two best teams in the NFC.
Ravens 30 Falcons 23. Without Lamar Jackson I had predicted an Atlanta victory. But Baltimore came back from behind and closed the show.
Bills 37 Rams 34. This one ranked right up there with the Seattle/San Francisco game. In a word, Josh Allen is an animal. Great stats for the night running and passing the ball. No way can he carry this team for 17 games. If he continues to play like this, he is risking injury.
Bucs 24 Cowboys 13. WOW. Dallas suffered a complete embarrassment. A chance to take sole possession of first place in the NFC East against a team without a win and they take a Cowboys dump. The same reason they’ve gone years without substantial success remains the same…two words…Jerry Jones.
Now the next slate of games for week six.
Seattle Seahawks at Denver Broncos
SEA 20
DEN 23
Seattle lost a tough one last weekend. Now they travel to a difficult environment in Denver. Another close battle here but I have to give the edge to the home team.
Houston Texans at Jacksonville Jaguars
HOU 17
JAX 34
Jacksonville is red hot right now and with the way they won in week five that momentum will carry over big time in playing at home.
Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons
CHI 21
ATL 25
Chicago finds themselves in a bit of trouble at this point and the Atlanta Falcons are pissed off losing the way they did to Baltimore.
Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts
TEN 9
IND 41
Daniel Jones played respectably in Pittsburgh now he will make up for the loss at home against a team that has not won.
Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
BAL 24
CLE 13
Even if Lamar Jackson is not playing Baltimore should win this one but this is a tricky game. There is a chance the Ravens could be caught in a trap game, but wiser minds will choose this one.
New Orleans Saints at New York Giants
NO 10
NYG 17
The Giants played in a tie game a week before which might end up being the only tie game this season. New Orleans has showed some promise, but I think New York takes this one.
New York Jets at New England Patriots
NYJ 20
NE 30
New England will be ready for the tough Jets who can surprise. No surprises on this day.
Carolina Panthers at Philadelphia Eagles
CAR 27
PHI 21
Philadelphia might be one of the most controversial and talked about teams this season. It seems no one can figure this team out. At 2-3 they are a game behind the Giants for first place. But something smells of upset here.
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
ARI 12
LAR 47
The Rams are starting to jell and while they lost to the Bills in a shootout, they had a chance to win that game. They will overwhelm the hapless Cards.
Los Angeles Chargers at Kansas City Chiefs
LAC 17
KC 33
Ouch to being a Chargers fan. Without a victory in 2026, now they face the undefeated Chiefs in Kansas City? Oh man…
Buffalo Bills at Las Vegas Raiders
BUF 28
LV 17
Las Vegas needs to redeem themselves for a very poor showing in New England. Not a good bounce back opportunity for them with Josh Allen playing at such a high level.
Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers
DAL 19
GB 23
Dallas is in a flux after being humiliated and perhaps Jordan Love and the Pack have found some rhythm.
Washington Commanders at San Francisco 49ers
WAS 10
SF 35
San Francisco is out to show the world they are not just the best team in the NFC but the best NFL team right now. Washington will not have anything to say about that.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
PIT ??
TB ??
Prediction coming soon!
