Review of NFL Week 13
The NFL's 13th week has recently concluded, showcasing a myriad of captivating moments and unexpected results throughout the season that the fans were able to witness. Now as we reflect on the week, let's compile a summary of the most intriguing events and occurrences that fans experienced during this timeframe.
Arizona 24-10 over Pittsburgh
The Cardinals played at their best during this match and picked up their performance levels. Arizona won also thanks to its dominance on third down as well as in the red zone. The Steelers from Pittsburgh didn’t manage to play at the best of their possibilities during this NFL week 13 as they have been out-played often during this game and when not out-played, they managed to prevent their own game from developing as it should have developed.
Indianapolis 31-28 Tennessee
The Colts of Indianapolis are benefitting from their choice of signing Gardner Minshew back in March. He played remarkably during this game, throwing for 312 yards, two scores and a game-winning 4-yard TD pass in overtime to Michael Pittman Jr. The Titan’s offense was good but the special teams play won the game. A special mention goes to the biggest play of the game, performed by Grant Stuard, who returned a blocked punt for a TD in the second half.
L.A. Chargers 6-0 over New England
The Chargers happily overcame their defensive problems while playing against the Patriots. They pitched their first shutout since 2014 in this game and finally won against the Patriots team. It was a wet day in New England but the Chargers still managed to play well also because they couldn’t really afford to lose it. The Patriots, on the other hand, couldn’t move the ball and their offense didn’t manage to drive inside of the opponent’s 25-yard line. On the other hand, their defensive performance was rather impressive. The Patriots lost three straight games where they allowed ten or fewer points. This makes them the first team to have done so since 1938.
Atlanta 13-8 over N.Y. Jets
What’s really remarkable about this game is the Falcons’ defense work. They forced three turnovers including a recovery by Dee Alford during the second quarter. That set up Atlanta’s touchdown as they hung on a one-score lead during the second half while the defense forced two additional turnovers while playing as well as they could. Their play was not aesthetically pleasing but they still won the game nonetheless.
Miami 45-15 over Washington
The Dolphins won against the commanders also due to the unstoppable force brought to the game by Tyreek Hill. The Commanders’ offense played quite well but the Dolphins’ defense played even better. The Dolphins hold Sam Howell to 127 yards while the Commanders slowly dove into their defeat. The defense had to deal with Tyreek Hill, while the offense saw Sam Howell throw a pick-six and Joey Slye missed a field goal.
Houston 22-17 over Denver
The Houston Texans played their defense remarkably well as the Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson was intercepted by the Texans three times. The Broncos were prevented from having a third-down conversion and the offense played turnover-free football moments after Tank Dell was injured, reportedly having a fractured fibula. The Broncos ultimately lost the game only by five points as the Broncos' defense was busy working on Stroud. Ultimately, a very tight professional game. These were some of the most impressive games that happened during the NFL week 13 and these were the main takeaways from each game.
