NFL Week 3 Quick Picks
Thursday Night Football
September 24th
Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville
Many had predicted the Jaguars to be the worst team in football but after a 1-1 start with Gardner Minshew looking like an all-pro quarterback, Jacksonville is far from being the worst team in the NFL. That belongs to the New York Jets or this Dolphins team they will face on Thursday night.
Prediction: Jaguars 38 / Dolphins 17
Sunday, September 27th
Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons
Despite winning the first two games, most think the Bears are pretenders. The Falcons have built a reputation for blowing big leads but I don’t see them repeating that in this one.
Prediction: Falcons 35 / Bears 17
Los Angeles Rams at Buffalo Bills
Two of many teams who have yet to lose in 2020 and the home-field advantage for everyone has all but disappeared around the league because of COVID-19. So players will have to build their momentum on their own and games are going to be won clearly on talent alone. With that said, the Bills are by many said to be for real and Josh Allen is playing outstanding at quarterback.
Prediction: Bills 27 / Rams 21
Washington Football Team at Cleveland Browns
After getting their doors blown off in week one, the Browns won the “battle of Ohio” albeit a closer game than they would have liked. The “Washington Football Team” as they are now known to have been a bit of surprise but if Cleveland is to make any noise this season this then becomes a sort of must-win.
Prediction: Browns 31 / Washington 20
Tennessee Titans at Minnesota Vikings
Down 0-2 now, the Vikings need this one badly. The Titans picked up where they left off last season and are one of the AFC’s formidable teams. I like the Vikes to bounce back and win a close one.
Prediction: Vikings 17 / Titans 14
Las Vegas Raiders at New England Patriots
So much for a sub-par team without Tom Brady. The Patriots seem to have not lost a step with Cam Newton barking out the signals. The former Oakland Raiders are 2-0 and being taken for real. Unfortunately for those who have manned the “Black Hole” there will be no hole in 2020 as Mark Madden has declared NO fans will be permitted to attend a Vegas home game this season. But the game goes on and this will be a very intriguing game.
Prediction: Raiders 25 / Patriots 23
San Francisco 49ers at New York Giants
The 49ers have lost Nick Bosa for the season and Jimmy Garoppolo is questionable for this game. Those are just a few of many Niner injuries while the Giants will be without Saquon Barkley who is done for the 202 campaign. With the injury factor, I like the home team.
Prediction: Giants 23 / 49ers 21
Cincinnati Bengals at Philadelphia Eagles
The Bengals threw their rookie quarterback and overall number one draft pick Joe Burrow into the fire and thus far is holding up fine. The Eagles are in deep trouble and a loss here would drop them to 0-3 along with losing to a rookie. Won’t happen.
Prediction: Eagles 33 / Bengals 24
Houston Texans at Pittsburgh Steelers
Another team in trouble is the Texans now without their former primary weapon DeAndre Hopkins. His absence has had a major impact on Houston’s offense. The Texans are 0-2 soon to be 0-3.
Prediction: Steelers 34 /Texans 13
New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts
Did Le’Veon Bell make a major mistake sitting out a season and then signing with the Jets? Sure seems that way. He’s out with a hamstring injury for a few games but he wasn’t making much noise anyway. He should have taken Pittsburgh’s offer two years ago and now he is part of the worst team in the NFL. The Jets don’t stand a chance here.
Prediction: Colts 45 / Jets 3
Carolina Panthers at Los Angeles Chargers
It was thought the loss of Philip Rivers would be a major blow to the ‘Bolts but they are playing excellent football even with a 1-1 record and the Panthers have yet to win. They will have to wait at least until week four.
Prediction: Chargers 28 / Panthers 14
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Denver Broncos
Some quarterbacks are beginning to fall to injuries around the NFL and for the Broncos their casualty is Drew Lock with a shoulder injury. So in steps Jeff Driskel who’s been hanging around the league since 2016. Denver is his third team and on Sunday he draws six-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady. Both teams have split their first two games but the Buccaneers are the more talented of the two teams.
Prediction: Bucs 30 / Broncos 13
Detroit Lions at Arizona Cardinals
Kyle Murray is on a roll and has his team off to a 2-0 start. It’s the opposite for the Lions who will be seeking this season’s first victory. Not on this day.
Prediction: Cardinals 37 / Lions 21
Dallas Cowboys at Seattle Seahawks
Russell Wilson is already being touted as the possible league M.V.P. and his Seahawks team is in a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West at 2-0. The Cowboys were left for dead against Atlanta but fought back and won on a crazy and unthinkable on-sides kick that set them up for a game-winning field goal. Seattle is just a bit much for the ‘Boys.
Prediction: Seahawks 34 / Cowboys 24
Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints
There are some who think Drew Brees is on a downwards slide. On the flip side, Aaron Rodgers is playing like…well…Aaron Rodgers.
Prediction: Packers 28 / Saints 24
Monday Night Football
Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens
What a way to end week three. Perhaps the two best teams in the NFL right now with the Ravens getting the edge as to who is playing better. This game could go either way and given how each team has performed thus far, it favors Baltimore.
Prediction: Ravens 23 / Chiefs 21
